CVAC Arts This Month – May 2026
Founded in 1971, CVAC is a registered charity dedicated to enriching our community through the lens of arts & culture. We provide 30 art exhibitions per year and arts-themed programming for all ages. We are grateful to operate on the unceded territories of the Hul’qumi’num-speaking peoples who have resided here from time immemorial.
The Cowichan Valley Fine Arts Show Returns
May 4–30 · CVAC Galleries · Free Admission
The Cowichan Valley Fine Arts Show is back, filling the galleries with an incredible range of artwork from across the region. This long-running annual exhibition is open to artists at all stages of their practice, creating a dynamic mix of styles, mediums and perspectives. From painting and sculpture to photography and fibre art, the exhibition features work by artists from across the Cowichan Valley and beyond. Admission is free. All are welcome.
Opening Night Fundraiser
Friday, May 2 · 7–9 pm · Tickets $25
Be among the first to experience the 2026 Cowichan Valley Fine Arts Show at this special opening night celebration. Enjoy live music, light refreshments and a chance to meet the artists and explore the exhibition before it opens to the public. A fundraiser supporting CVAC’s work in the community, including exhibitions, education, artist support and programming. Fine Art Tea Party
Saturday, May 9 · 1–3 pm · By Donation
A CVAC favourite returns. Spend a relaxed afternoon surrounded by art, with fresh tea, sweet treats and good company in the gallery. Whether you’re celebrating Mother’s Day weekend or simply looking for something a little special, the Fine Art Tea Party is a warm, welcoming way to experience the Cowichan Valley Fine Arts Show. Fancy hats not required, but encouraged. All proceeds support local arts programming.

Secrets of the Six Mountains
Deadline: May 19
A group exhibition in June exploring the landscapes, wildlife and ecosystems of the Six Mountains — Prevost, Sicker, Richards, Maple, Tzouhalem and Stoney Hill. In collaboration with environmental writer Larry Pynn. All levels and mediums welcome. $35 per piece.
Pride Exhibition 2026
In partnership with Cowichan Pride Society, this June exhibition explores this year’s theme: Resilience. We welcome work that reflects the strength, complexity and lived experiences of 2SLGBTQIA+ communities. All mediums welcome.
Outdoor Art Market
Deadline: July 20
Sell your work at this vibrant outdoor market on July 25 alongside the Duncan Farmers Market and 39 Days of July. 10′ × 10′ vendor spaces available — $50 per space.
