Art of the Six Mountains
June 3–29 | CVAC Main Gallery | Opening Reception: Wednesday June 3, 7–9pm | FREE
The Six Mountains — Prevost, Sicker, Richards, Maple, Tzouhalem, and Stoney Hill — form the ecological and cultural heart of the Cowichan Valley. Through painting, photography, sculpture, and mixed media, this exhibition reflects on the richness of these landscapes and the importance of protecting them. Presented by the Cowichan Valley Arts Council in partnership with environmental writer Larry Pynn of SixMountains.ca.
Feature Event: Rare Ground — Inside BC’s Most Endangered Forest
An evening with Andy MacKinnon | June 10 at 7pm | Admission by donation
Join renowned naturalist, author, and forest ecologist Andy MacKinnon for a fascinating exploration of the Coastal Douglas-fir ecosystem — the rarest and most endangered forest type in British Columbia.
Pride Exhibition 2026
June 2–16 | CVAC Annex Gallery | Opening Reception: Thursday June 4, 7–9pm | FREE
Celebrating the strength, complexity, joy, survival, and creativity of 2SLGBTQIA+ communities, this show marks the Cowichan Valley Arts Council’s first Pride exhibition. In partnership with Cowichan Pride Society and inspired by this year’s Pride theme of Resilience, the exhibition features artwork exploring identity, chosen family, healing, visibility, resistance, and lived experience. Bringing together artists from Vancouver Island and the mainland, it is part of Cowichan Pride’s official Pride Month programming.
Some Days You Get the Penguin: Art of Nola Wedeen
June 18–30 | CVAC Annex Gallery | Opening Reception: June 18, 2–5pm
Created in the face of a terminal cancer diagnosis, Some Days You Get the Penguin is a bold, deeply personal exhibition that blends colour theory, music, storytelling, collaboration, and visual experimentation. The exhibition reflects a lifetime of curiosity, creativity, humour, and friendship. In an extraordinary act of generosity, proceeds from each artwork sold will be donated to a charity chosen by the buyer. Curious about that title? You’ll have to come see the show for the story.
