March carries a particular resonance. With International Women’s Day at its heart and the Spring Equinox marking the Earth’s return toward light, this month invites reflection on balance, renewal, and the qualities that sustain us beneath the surface.
In my work here in the Cowichan Valley, I’m continually reminded that we don’t need more fixing — or more attempts to fix others. We need space: to be heard, to be felt, to be met with presence, and to allow what is here to simply be held.
International Women’s Day encourages us to celebrate women’s contributions. It also offers an opportunity to honour feminine energy — not as gender, but as a quality. Receptive. Intuitive. Relational. Rooted in the body and in the rhythms of the Earth.
Navigating the Fire Horse Year
We have recently moved into the dynamic Fire Horse year, an energy associated with momentum, visibility, and outward drive. While inspiring, it can amplify the pressure to keep producing and pushing forward. In times like these, the balancing force of feminine energy becomes essential.
Feminine energy is not about stepping back from life — it is about attunement. It invites us to soften our grip on mental stories and listen beneath them. To move not from fear or urgency, but from alignment. It cannot be forced. It asks us to pay attention — to sense the subtle vibration of our own inner knowing.
The Spring Equinox and Balance
The Spring Equinox reflects this balance. Light and dark stand equal. The Earth begins to awaken, but she does not rush. Growth unfolds in its own timing.
Embodied practices such as gentle movement and sound offer simple pathways back to that rhythm. They guide us out of constant mental effort and into direct experience. In shared spaces, something shifts. Shoulders soften. Breath deepens. Stories loosen.
Community, then, becomes less about advice and more about resonance — holding space for one another as we reconnect to what feels true.
An Invitation to Gather
This month, I’ll be holding a small women’s gathering on March 14th at Yum Yoga — an afternoon of intuitive movement and restorative sound, created as a space to root, express, release, and realign in community.
As light and dark find their equilibrium at the Equinox, perhaps we are being invited to do the same — not through force, but listening.
